Perspective

Our perspectives vary in how we understand content and its context. Mainstream and social media often distort our perspective of the world. World events are marred by conflicting views, creating confusion and discourse everywhere. It is best to use critical thinking skills and basic common sense to draw your own conclusions.  We see people succumb to the dark side, especially those who follow conspiracy theories and the opinions of talking heads. A grounded perspective enables us to create and sustain a reasonable viewpoint, free from the delusions of many.

“Sometimes the best thing to do is to take a step back and get a little bit of a different perspective and re-evaluate things.”

- Austin Aries

“Everything we hear is an opinion, not a fact. Everything we see is perspective, not the truth.”

- Marcus Aurelius

Our understanding of the world around us can evolve, depending on the direction we take. Overall perspectives may differ among the population, depending on our environment and social circle. Perspective allows us to analyze and interpret the noise that influences our thinking, values, and beliefs.  Viewpoints can shift over time as we begin to understand all that happens around us. Perspective can help us review ourselves, our reality, and how others can influence us. As we see a positive shift in our mindset, we will notice how a healthy perspective helps us to be challenged and see things more clearly.

“Knowledge is of no value unless you put it into perspective.”

- Anton Chekhov

“Sometimes a change of perspective is all it takes to see the light.”

- Dan Brown

Your perspective on life and the events around us may differ drastically.  How you understand and view society's transgressions matters, as it challenges and questions your values and beliefs. Our perspective can evolve, while a delusional perspective can cloud your judgment beyond reason. When you change your perspective, you gain new insights and awareness. Keep in mind that your perspective can and will be influenced by many factors, but don't ignore your core beliefs, which are the foundation of your cultural heritage.

“Those at too great a distance may I am well are mistake ignorance for perspective.”

- Carl Sagan

“True freedom is impossible without a mind made free by discipline.”

— Mortimer J. Adler

Our individual experiences shape a unique life perspective through our beliefs, values, and understanding. We may interpret those experiences differently, although finding common ground can help shape and foster our personal growth. A positive outlook for society creates the best lens for your perspective and how you value your future. It is vital to develop a healthy perspective on everything, whether it's your life or what's happening in our world. It is beneficial to follow through with self-reflection, change negative thoughts, and avoid being entrapped by delusional viewpoints that lack a basis in reality. Sometimes it feels like our world is consumed by so much hate, anger, and unhappiness.  We can see the cause-and-effect that creates the divide.

Most misunderstandings in the world could be avoided if people would simply take the time to ask, 'What else could this mean?”

- Shannon L. Alder

“To change ourselves effectively, we first had to change our perceptions.”

― Stephen R. Covey

It is best to let compassion, kindness, humility,  empathy, and understanding channel your perspective into an authentic reality. Our strong mindset is crucial to overall well-being; our perspective on the world and how we interpret it must be within the realm of sanity. Individual assumptions, beliefs, and attitudes will vary, although it is vital to make sense of it all. Human behavior encompasses our ability to learn and think independently; any deviation from that will change our perspective. If you are willing to understand various things and draw reasonable conclusions, you will gain a better sense of how to navigate life.

“Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.”

― C.G. Jung

“Because one believes in oneself, one doesn't try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn't need others' approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts them.”

― Lao Tzu

We are sometimes conditioned to follow the Pied Piper, but that does not mean we have to or need to. Our individual growth and development depend on how we perceive the world around us, and so do our relationships, interactions, and overall understanding. Social and cultural norms are evolving.  Although it seems like we are going into the abyss at times, that doesn't mean it's the place we need to be. An enlightened perspective will give us a future we all need to strive for. There is inherent importance in having an unwavering perspective on life, filled with optimism and hope. It also helps us gain insights, develop empathy and understanding, especially how we approach diverse viewpoints, while enhancing our communication abilities. Perspective helps us interpret unexpected events, understand opportunities, and create paths to solutions.

“Dream delivers us to dream, and there is no end to illusion. Life is like a train of moods like a string of beads, and, as we pass through them, they prove to be many-colored lenses which paint the world their own hue. . . . ”

― Ralph Waldo Emerson

“Often it isn't the mountains ahead that wear you out, it's the little pebble in your shoe.”

― Muhammad Ali
